We are FORTUNE. We are creating a performance around food and memory... Over the past few months we have been interviewing market traders, restaurant owners and different members of the community. We will be posting films, photos, stories, and comments. We want to hear your stories and memories of food. Welcome to our blog.

Ethiopian Coffee in South East London

Seeing the post - below - about the Eritrean Coffee Ceremony, reminded me of a day, just a few years ago, when we hosted an Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony in our house in Forest Hill. I am told that there are only minor differences between the two (the shape of the coffee pot was mentioned) and here's what it looked like, Nazret preparing, Bethlehim serving:

beans.............................................preparing the coffee pot

pouring it..........................................serving it

and drinking it

We are FORTUNE, a group of young performance makers, and part of PAN INTERCULTURAL ARTS. We are creating an event based around food - the memories it brings to us, the favourite meals we have had or have now, or dream of in the future.

Welcome to our blog. On this blog you can see some of our thoughts. Please add your own comments, memories and stories.

For further information on the blog or group please contact m.anouf@pan-arts.net, or call 020 7833 2111.

Taste of Memory - Group song, inspired by Ali

Japanese, Chinese, Indian food
Greek, Turkish, Italian food
Afghan, Kurdish, Iranian food
English, French, American food
Egyptian, Kenyan, Congolese food

There are so many different foods out there
For me and you to enjoy right here
No matter what culture it comes from
It's good enough for us to share

Sharing is caring
The food is daring
Biting and tearing
We won't be sparing x 2

Let's go out there and find some food
It gives us strength, it builds us up
We need food to live and love
Without it we would die

Sharing is caring

The food is daring
Biting and tearing
We won't be sparing x 2
